Structure of a Meeting (example: 6:30 to 9:30 p.m.)
6:30-7:00 Arrive and socialize.
7:00-7:10 Session Leader #1 reads or recites the selected poem, and briefly illumines the pertinent subjects and issues presented in the poem to kick off the evening’s first discussion.
7:10-8:00 Group discussion characterized by two behaviors: individual comments should be restricted to a maximum of two minutes, and all comments should begin with evidence of having heard the previous speaker’s comment.
8:00-8:15 Break
8:15-8:25 Session Leader #2 reads or recites the selected poem, and briefly illumines the pertinent subjects and issues presented in the poem to kick off the evening’s second discussion.
8:25-9:15 Group discussion characterized by two behaviors: individual comments should be restricted to a maximum of two minutes, and all comments should begin with evidence of having heard the previous speaker’s comment.
9:15-9:30 Socialize and depart.
Note: As difficult as it might be for some, all cell phones should be off AND out of sight from 7:00 until 9:15. An exception might be made for the 8:00 to 8:15 break period.
